Vazhappov Cutlet- A healthy and easy to prepare snack dish from the State of Kerala. An alternative to the alltime favorite Beef cutlet, this dish also will attract foodies heart as quickly as possible. Banana and plantains were abundantly found across the state and almost all parts of the plant has used for cooking. Whether its tender stem or the flower or the banana as vegetable and fruit, Kerala cuisine has a number of dishes to celebrate with it.

Remove the outer thick layer of banana flower. Chop the rest and soak in warm water for a while. Wash and drain.
Boil the potatoes, peel and mash and keep aside.
Peel onions and chop, ginger, chop green chillies.
Break the eggs into a bowl, mix with flour without lumps and keep aside.

Heat coconut oil in a pan, splutter curry leaves, saute green chilli, ginger and onions till golden brown in color.
Add turmeric, chilly powder, garam masala and fry for a while.
Add the chopped banana flower, sprinkle little water and cook covered till the flower has done.
Add salt, remove from the fire.

Mix with the mashed potatoes, divide into small balls and dip into the egg mixture first and then roll in the breadcrumbs and shape like a cutlet-flat oval shape.
Heat oil for deep frying , and fry the cutlets in batches ti golden brown in color.
Remove, drain and serve hot with ketchup or any other dips.
