Manga Pattichathu- an easy to make side dish for the lunch. As in olden days Kerala cuisine revolves around seasonal fruits and vegetables. Every household mom were expertised to make use of vegetables which grown in their backyards, preparing endless dishes out of these readily available thing without much effort. Today as agriculture and farming were reduced substantially, the living standard has increased much, people were not aware about the natural vegetables available around them and how to use it.
In the summer time when mangoes were in abundance mom has no other choice to make several dishes. The curries made of it, Fish curry with mangoes, mango chutney etc, etc, the list longs.
Here is a simple recipe which every one can try.

Peel the mango, de-seed it and cut into small dices.
Cut the chilli into slices., Peel and slice the shallots.

Put mango,chilly, shallots, curry leaves, salt and little oil in a mud pot, mix nicely with hand, Put on slow flame, cover it and cook. When the mangoes and other ingredients cooked well sprinkle little coconut oil, mix it and remove.

Serve hot with rice.
